7 Steps to Making a Humorous Video
There are lots of humorous videos made although not all of them can really elicit heartfelt sidesplitting laughter. Those videos are rare, spontaneous and appealing to one's senses since it depicts a very warm and real person. This is the reason why kids are usually used in videos. They give out a certain appeal to the audience that reflects their innocence and naiveté. So how do you make a humorous video? Here are seven steps to help you out:
1.Choose a subject that you are familiar with.
This is important since this will be the basis of your whole video. Knowing the subject, be it a person, an animal, or a situation will greatly help in the spontaneity of the video. By being familiar with the of your video, you can create a scene that you know would look good in and be able to do well. One criteria of a potential subject is one who can be funny without actually trying to be just so.
2. Decide on the scene to be done.
What do you think will make your audience laugh? Is it slapstick humor? Will they laugh if they see you fall flat on your face or will they laugh if they see your face? Is the humor something that they can relate with? Is it something original or just an imitation of something you have seen?
3. Prepare the location for the shoot.
Where you need to shoot the video doesn't need to be extravagant. In fact, the more typical the location looks, the more natural the video will turn out to be. You usually don't need to take up much space. You can just use a room, or even your own backyard to shoot your video.
4. Make a tentative shot of the video.
When you have finished setting up the needed props and paraphernalia for the shoot, and all things are already in place, take a first shot of your video. This is like a dress rehearsal on how the video will turn out to be.
5. View the tentative video and edit if needed.
Watch the first video that you made and see if you still need to shoot another one. If the technicalities of the video are fine with you, then you don't really have to make another one.
6. Show the video to your family or friends for further review.
Your family and friends may be the best or worst critics that you can get. Showing them the video can give you a first-hand appraisal video turned out the way you wanted it to be. Do not inform them about the type of video you have made because it may make them predisposed to laughing when the punch line hasn't been delivered yet. Get their comments and suggestions to improve on it.
7. Put the finishing touches on the video.
When you have gained the desired reaction from your audience by allowing them to view your video (the point here is to make them laugh), then you know that what you have done is right. It is now ready to be launched for public display.
Making a humorous video is actually harder than making any other film because it is not easy to make someone laugh. But it is also the simplest to make. Enjoy making the video and surely, your audience will enjoy watching it too!
