"Heroes" Season 2 Episode 5: Kristen Bell Is A Bad Girl... I Mean Woman

She didn't do much in her first episode, but she did manage to kill Ricky with her powers, after he wouldn't tell her the whereabouts of Peter. Hopefully she gets more screen time in the next few episodes, because as Kanye West says, "Me likey."

Another point of interest was the discovery of Micah's cousin Monica's ability to copy any physical activity that she sees, including double dutch, which comes in handy in case she's ever involved in a life threatening situation involving a of angry third graders and two jump ropes. Okay, so the ability is pretty cool, but is it just me or does Monica have an accent that keeps turning on and off?

In addition to Monica's ability to be a "copycat", it was insinuated by Matt Parkman's father, that Matt will eventually have the ability to place people in a dream world of sorts. We know this because his father, who can also read minds, said that his abilities began with mind reading, and then became much more. He then proceeded to trap and Nathan Petrelli in their own dream worlds while he escaped, avoiding their questioning about Molly's dreams. It will be interesting to see what Matt Parkman is able to do with this ability once he figures out how to use it, because mind reading isn't as cool on TV as it would be in real life.

My favorite part of Monday's episode was Peter's choice of words after Caitlin became hysterical, due to seeing Ricky lying dead on the floor. At that moment, Peter's super-powered brain told him that the best thing to say was, "Look at me. This is my fault."

Smooth move Peter. Way to earn yourself some Irish punches in the face. How about a little consoling next time before you break the bad news?

Overall I would have to say that episode 5 was pretty average. At this point in the season, the only story lines that I'm enjoying are Peter Petrelli's and Hiro's. We get such small portions of each story line in any given episode that it's hard to get into most of them.

Part of the problem is that the show has too many characters now. You know a show has too many characters when they don't all fit into one episode. Niki has hardly been in any of the episodes. Claire was absent from Monday night's episode, Hiro appeared for all of two minutes. What other shows have major characters that don't appear in entire episodes? (Besides "Lost" which has problems of its own)
